I'm planning to buy an Engl E 530 + Marshall 20/20 poweramp.
I heard that if you put those in a 2HE rack, it would produce too much heat...so it's better to leave a unit free betweeen these amps.

But if I buy a Mesa 2:20 poweramp...can I combine this one with the E530 and put them in a 2HE rack without concerning about the heat?

It's a killer indeed!
I just tested an E530 and compared it a day or so later with a Mesa Quad.
Well, the Engl is cheaper but also a lot more suitable for my style.
I liked the 530 more (although I was already very impressed when I tested it).

It IS a killer Cool

Thanks for the reply!

I take it that preamp tubes don't produce (that much) heat, so you don't have to add any extra unit space for the air conditioning? And transistor power amps aren't that picky with extra space either? I have Engl 530, G-Major and Rocktron Velocity cramped up in a self-made veneer plywood rack and it's really crowded in there. No extra space, only on the sides. But even though I use my rig for approx. 4-10 hours a day, the heat increase hasn't ever been even noticeable.

Here's a photo:

I might be getting old, do you sue the velocity single side, bridged or is the HK a stereo cab?

I was considering the v100, but though that I fry the poweramp if I only use one cab, as it would normally be with a tube Poweramp.

Plus...how does it sound , ye seem to have pretty much the set up I had in mind Smile
